MELBOURNE (Dow Jones)--Whitehaven Coal Ltd. (WHC.AU) on Wednesday dismissed speculation it was considering funding a bid for some of the Australian coal assets of Anglo American Plc (AAL.LN) with a capital raising. The Australian Financial Review's Street Talk column reported the coal miner was one of the final bidders for the Anglo American assets and had approached underwriters about a possible raising. "Whitehaven reiterates its announcement of last week that it has no current plans to raise new equity," the company said in a statement. "Whitehaven further advises that it is not participating in the sale process being run by Anglo American Plc in relation to its Australian coal assets." - By Alex Wilson, Dow Jones Newswires: 613-9292-2094; [email protected] (END) Dow Jones Newswires June 15, 2010 20:55 ET (00:55 GMT)
