LONDON (Dow Jones)--Medical device company Surgical Innovations Group PLC (SUN.LN) Wednesday said it received approval to sell a device for fixing gastric bands in the U.S. The Food and Drug Administration granted marketing authorization to Logi Flex, a device that allows surgeons to fix a gastric band during procedures to treat obesity, Surgical Innovations said. The company signed up a new U.S. distributor in March. Up to 250,000 surgical procedures to treat obesity are performed annually in the U.S. Chief Executive Graham Bowland said Logi Flex will appeal to budget-conscious hospitals seeking high quality but cheaper devices. -By Jason Douglas, Dow Jones Newswires; 44-20-7842-9272;
