Barclays has undertaken a major shake-up of its executive board with the departure of Frits Seegers, chief executive of the global retail and commercial arm, while Anthony Jenkins will head a new global retail division.Seegers has only been at Barclays for three years, having joined from Citigroup in 2006. He steps down as a director with immediate effect. Anthony Jenkins, who oversees Barclaycard, will now also have responsibility for UK retail banking and global retail and commercial banking in Western Europe and emerging markets. He will report to John Varley.He also came from Citigroup and joined the bank at the same time as Frits Seegers but has not made it onto the executive committee until now.Barclays has also set up a new investment banking division called Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) and Wealth Management, comprising Barclays Capital, Barclays Commercial Bank and Barclays Wealth.Group President Bob Diamond will head this new group with Jerry del Missier and Rich Ricci as co-Chief Executives of the Corporate and Investment Bank. Tom Kalaris, Chief Executive of Barclays Wealth, will continue to lead the Wealth Management business.Barclays added Missier, Ricci and Kalaris will join the executive committee, as will Maria Ramos, chief executive of Absa, Barclays' South African bank.Mark Harding, Group General Counsel, Robert Le Blanc, Chief Risk Officer and Cathy Turner, Group Human Resources Director will also join the Group Executive Committee, the bank said.
