SANTIAGO (Dow Jones)--State miner Corporacion Nacional del Cobre de Chile tapped former Collahuasi executive Thomas Keller as its new chief financial officer, the company said. Keller will head the administration and finance department, which new chief executive Diego Hernandez recently created. Since 2008, Keller worked as a managing partner for Brookfield Asset Management Inc. (BAM, BAM.A.T) for Latin America. Before that, he spent 12 years with the Collahuasi copper mine, a joint venture between diversified global miners Xstrata PLC (XTA.LN) and Anglo American PLC (AAUKY, AAL.LN), first as the CFO and later as the executive president. Earlier this year, local newspapers reported that Keller was one of the candidates being considered for CEO prior to Hernandez's nomination. Codelco produced 1.7 million metric tons of copper last year, making it the world's largest copper producer. -By Erin McCarthy, Dow Jones Newswires; 56-2-715-8939;
