SEPTEMBER TRAFFIC SEES LOAD FACTOR UP
AND ANOTHER VERY POSITIVE CO2 PERFORMANCE
Ticker: WIZZ
Geneva, 2 October 2025: Wizz Air Holdings Plc ("Wizz Air"), one of the most sustainable European airlines, announces passenger and CO2 emission statistics for September 2025.
Wizz Air carried 6.265 million passengers during the month of September, up 8.8% year on year. Seat capacity increased 7.6% year on year, resulting in a load factor of 92.8%, up 1 ppt compared to last year.
During the month:
· Wizz Air reported CO2 emissions of 49.8 grams per Revenue Passenger Kilometer (RPK) in September, marking the second consecutive month with figures below 50 grams. This represents a 4.8% year-on-year reduction compared to August's figure of 49.6 grams, which was down 2.5% from the previous year. The decrease is associated with the transition to A321neo aircraft and higher load factors. Over the past seven years, Wizz Air has recorded emissions below 50 grams per RPK three times, including February 2023.
· Wizz Air was awarded Sustainable Airline of the Year 2025 by Airline Economics Ltd. The judging panel recognized Wizz Air for its progress in reducing carbon emissions, transparent reporting, and its roadmap toward Net Zero by 2050, which was presented in April this year.
· Wizz Air announced it will close its Vienna base by March 2026, in the face of the unsustainable cost increases seen over recent years. Two aircraft will move to a new base opening in Bratislava, Slovakia by November 14 for this Winter season (with each airport located within an hour's travel from the other). The remaining three aircraft at Vienna will be moved to other parts of the network by March next year. These changes are a clear example of management resetting Wizz Air's network to develop lower cost airport options.
