Telekom Malaysia, KT Corp To Seek Thai 3G License Auction Details -Report

BANGKOK (Dow Jones)--Telekom Malaysia (4863.KU) and South Korea's KT Corp. (KT) will meet Thailand's national telecommunications regulator next week to seek details on its planned auction of licenses to operate 3G services on the 2.1-gigahertz spectrum, the Nation reported Friday, citing commission member Natee Sukonrat. The National Telecommunications Commission would also hold road shows in Europe next week to meet operators such as Vodafone (VODPF) and Deutsche Telekom (DTEGY) and invite them to join the auction. The regulator plans to hold the auction off three licenses for 3G services in the fourth week of September and it has set the starting bidding price at THB12.8 billion ($396.9 million). Its licensing plan was published in the Royal Gazette on Thursday.
