The utility solutions arm of energy supplier Scottish and Southern Energy is to develop an embedded electricity network for Nissan Motor manufacturing UK.The network will be the one-hundredth embedded electricity network developed by the company outside the areas served by its economically-regulated subsidiaries Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution and Southern Electric Power Distribution..Adrian Pike, SSE's group managing director of Contracting, Telecoms and Utility Solutions, said embedded networks "now represent a substantial asset for SSE and there remains significant scope for further growth as we continually evolve to make sure we meet the needs of our customers." Nissan is investing more than £200m in building an electric car battery factory at its plant in Sunderland, creating up to 350 jobs and assisting in plans to boost low-carbon industry in the region.
