Sefton Resources, an independent oil and gas exploitation, transmission and production company, has announced that there has been a "significant" improvement in its production levels since the beginning of the year. In California, oil production figures reported to the Division of Oil, Gas & Geothermal Resources (DOGGR) had increased from 3,446 barrels in January (111 barrels of oil per day (bopd)) to 5,308 in July (171 bopd). The firm said the current level was expected to continue or improve as more wells from the Hartje lease were brought on stream and water disposal capabilities were improved. The Hartje lease, located in the Tapia Canyon, had improved from a production baseline of 2,204 barrels of oil per month (bopm) (73 bopd) to 3,477 bopm for July (112 bopd), an increase of 55%. Wells 14, 16, and 17 were stimulated via cyclic steaming, and the Hartje 15 well was brought back on production for the latter part of July. Jim Ellerton, Chairman of Sefton, said: "The significant improvement in production from cyclic steaming the most productive lease at Tapia, combined with resolving water disposal issues and gaining a clearer path to the full development plan for Tapia will result in a more defined economic understanding of the field's development and Sefton's part in such."NR
