Sector movers: Miners and banks lead the way

Miners are putting on good gains and giving the markets a lift with Kazakhmys, Eurasian Natural Resources, Xstrata, Lonmin, Randgold Resources and Antofagasta all in the top ten risers. Banks are also going well with Lloyds up on rumours that it is considering alternatives to the government's toxic asset protection scheme (APS), which could include the sale of Scottish Widows or even a rights issue.
