Support services contracting firm Balfour Beatty has won a facilities management contract from defence technology outfit QinetiQ.The seven year contract has a base-line value of £15m per annum, and will be supplemented with additional fees for non-core services.Balfour Beatty will be managing facilities across 31 QinetiQ sites in the UK, and will be expected to provide greater efficiencies and cost savings. Operations will include mechanical and electrical and building fabric maintenance, waste management, mail, logistics, cleaning, front of house, helpdesk management and ground maintenance. In a separate announcement, Balfour Beatty said it has been awarded education sector contracts worth £191m, one from the Greenwich Schools Building Schools for the Future and the other from the North Lanarkshire Council Schools and Centres 21 Framework.
