DOW JONES NEWSWIRES Program trading fell last week on the NYSE Euronext's (NYX) New York Stock Exchange as total volume also declined in the holiday-shortened period. The daily program-trading volume average was 810.7 million shares, or 28% of the average total of 2.89 billion shares. Those figures were down from 976.8 million, or 29.5%, of the 3.31 billion-share average volume posted the prior week. The most active NYSE member firm for program trading last week was Morgan Stanley (MS). It was followed by Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS), Wedbush Morgan Securities Inc. and Barclays PLC (BCS, BARC.LN).
