Primark to open its biggest UK store

Primark is planning to buy the Pavilions shopping centre in Birmingham for £60m and convert it into one of its largest stores in the UK, according to media reports The discount retailer, owned by FTSE-listed Associated British Foods (ABS), is expected to close the deal with the UBS Triton Property Fund within days.It is understood that Primark wants convert half the 250,000 sq ft shopping centre into a Primark store and the rest will be sub-let to other retailers.Other retailers currently in the centre include Marks & Spencer, H&M and Waterstones.Primark has 269 stores around the world covering almost 10m sq ft of selling space. The company's sales rose 14% year-on-year according to the latest results from ABS.RD
