Housebuilder Persimmon said sales have remained consistent since it last updated the market on March 2, despite uncertainty over the state of the economy and the coming general election.Total sales are some 20% higher than last year at about £1.15bn, the company said. Volumes are up by about 11%, it added.'Maintaining an appropriate level of sales while focusing on achieving price growth in all regions continues to form the basis of our current strategy,' Persimmon said. 'Margin improvement remains a priority.'Margin improvement is already underway, Persimmon said, which, combined with robust cash generation and high quality land banks, leave it 'in a strong position in the UK housing market to deliver profitable growth.'
