Outgoing Pearson US education chief profits from recent highs

The Chief Executive of Pearson's US education division, Will Ethridge, who is due to leave at the end of the year, sold almost a tenth of his shares in the company it was announced on Wednesday afternoon.Ethridge, who has been at the company since 2008 and is due to depart after a management shake-up in the summer, made £0.5m from selling close to 9% of his stake at a price of $20.95 per American depository receipt, equivalent to 1,285.47p.The shares have been trading at 10-year highs between 1,300p and 1,350p in recent months.Three non-executive directors at iron ore miner London Mining have been buying in recent days after the company lowered its annual production guidance for the current year. Alan Ferguson, non-executive director, bought £46,000 worth at a price of 101.3p, following a similar purchase by Chairman Michael Miles and a smaller investment by Deputy Chairman Nicholas Bonsor earlier in the week.
