National Grid names expert in debt capital markets to board

Multinational electricity group National Grid announced the appointment of Therese Esperdy, JP Morgan's co-Head of Banking in Asia Pacific, as a non-executive director effective today.She will also be joining the finance and nominations committee and is anticipated to become Chairman of the former when her predecessor steps down later in the year.Esperdy was the Global Head of Debt Capital Markets at JP Morgan and prior to that Head of US Debt Capital Markets. Peter Gershon, Chairman, said: "Therese's appointment completes a significant transition of the board over the last three years. We have successfully renewed the membership and key roles to bring a diverse range of skills and experience to our board. As a result, shareholders will continue to benefit from strong governance and stewardship, underpinning National Grid's clear strategy and focused dividend policy."Gershon also highlighted how National Grid is one of the largest non-financial issuers of corporate debt in the UK.As of 11:25 the share price had dropped by 0.18% to 824.50p.WS
