Trading has been in line with expectations since March at Informa, though the business publisher has seen mixed performances across its divisions. The company, whose specialist publications include the shipping journal Lloyd's List, said the academic information division has made a good start with book sales ahead of last year. In the professional and commercial information division trends in the financial services sector mean that the company is seeing 'late cycle impacts' across some subscription products. In events and training the company is seeing signs of recovery in some conference businesses. Exhibitions have started well, but the company foresees a decline across real estate shows later in the year. Training budgets remain weak in line with employment levels, particularly in the US, Informa says.'Our overall financial position remains strong and we anticipate that we will be able to maintain the operating margins achieved last year,' the company said.
