(Sharecast News) - Kier Group said on Monday that KierBAM - its joint venture with Royal BAM Group - has been appointed by Babcock on behalf of the MoD's Defence's Nuclear Enterprise (DNE), to support the delivery of a circa £600m programme of works at Devonport Royal Dockyard's 10 Dock in Plymouth.
The upgraded 10 Dock facility will provide vital enhancements to strengthen the UK's defence resilience by improving Devonport's capability to support the maintenance and availability of current and future submarine fleets.
Works include major civils infrastructure, including a water retaining boundary structure and nuclear licensed components, alongside extensive engineering works. This includes the construction of buttresses, new subways, and in-situ subway structures, plus the installation of rock anchors, dowels, reinforcement and a multi-tonne caisson.
Craig Small, managing director for Energy & Environment at Kier Infrastructure, said: "Devonport Royal Dockyard's 10 Dock is a critical piece of infrastructure to strengthen the UK's defence capabilities, and we're proud to have been entrusted with its delivery.
"We will use our existing knowledge of the site's unique demands, alongside our longstanding expertise in UK nuclear and defence programmes, to support the delivery of these works."
