ISuppli: HTC's Droid Incredible Materials Total $163.35

DOW JONES NEWSWIRES The components of HTC Corp.'s (HTCXF, 2498.TW) popular Droid Incredible smartphone cost a total of $163.35, according to an industry research company that dissected the device. According to iSuppli, when the estimated $8.90 manufacturing cost is added in, the total bill for the Incredible, which has been Verizon Wireless' flagship device for the past quarter, comes to $172.25. Verizon Wireless is a collaboration between Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) and Vodafone Group PLC (VOD, VOD.LN). The device, which hit shelves in April and has suffered continued shortages because of its popularity, currently sells online for $199.99 with a two-year contract. In comparison, iSuppli said in June that the full cost of materials for Apple Inc.'s (AAPL) fourth iteration of its popular iPhone, with 16 gigabytes of storage, came to $187.51. The most expensive pieces of the Incredible are its processor, which runs $31.40, the display, which costs $31.20, and the phone's memory, $29.80. ISuppli teardown-services manager Andrew Rassweiler compared the Droid Incredible to HTC's Nexus One, which was released earlier this year, saying it "could have been dubbed the Nexus Two" because of the two devices' similarities.
