FTSE 100 movers: Relx rallies again; oil giants gush lower

(Sharecast News) - London's FTSE 100 was 0.8% higher at 10,819.80 in afternoon trade on Monday.

Relx was the standout gainer, having rallied last Thursday and Friday after the provider of information-based analytics and decision tools reaffirmed its full-year outlook and posted a rise in first-half revenue and profit.

On Friday, Deutsche Bank upped its price target on the shares to 3,100p from 3,050p following "strong" first-half figures and a "positive" results call. The bank, which rates the stock at 'buy', said it sees good value given solid/consistent like-for-like revenue growth. It said also said that AI worries look overplayed.

JD Sports Fashion rallied after an upgrade to 'outperform' from 'neutral' at BNP Paribas, which set a price target of 105p.

BP and Shell gushed lower as oil prices tumbled on renewed hopes for a lasting peace deal in the Middle East. Oil prices were responding to Iran and the US pausing tit-for-tat attacks following a fortnight of steadily escalating violence.

The US military has not reported any strikes since Thursday, while Iranian forces halted all attacks over the weekend.

BA and Iberia owner IAG flew higher as falling oil prices alleviated concerns about jet fuel costs.
