On a mixed day for the Footsie, British Sky Broadcasting stands out. Its share price has risen even though telecoms regulator Ofcom has ordered the satellite broadcaster to make its two top sports channels available to rivals at a 23% discount to the current price. BSkyB is not taking this lying down and intends to take on Ofcom. In addition, Ofcom said Sky is restricting the distribution of premium movies and there is ineffective exploitation of subscription video-on-demand movie rights and is consulting on a decision to refer the markets to the Competition Commission.BSkyB is fighting back and it says that it will challenge Ofcom's decision at the Competition Appeal Tribunal adding, "There should be no doubt that Ofcom's actions represent an unprecedented and unwarranted intervention."BSkyB has been given six weeks to make a reference offer to other pay-TV providers.Property investor Segro has gone ex-dividend. The final dividend is 9.4p a share, compared with the share price decline of 11.5p.
