Friday preview: Anglo American and BG Group report

Anglo American and BG Group will be in the spotlight on Friday as the FTSE 100 companies unveil their latest results.Ahead of its half-year interim statement, Anglo reported mixed second quarter production results last week as increases to copper, platinum and diamond output were offset by declines in iron ore, coal and nickel.The company said that in the three months to the end of June, spending on exploration and evaluation totalled $132m, a drop of 24% when compared with last year.Investors are eagerly awaiting Chief Executive Officer Mark Cutifani's results announcement for Anglo which has significantly underperformed most of its mining peers.BG Group will report its second quarter results after the British oil and gas company reported a slump in first quarter figures. In the first three months, earnings fell by 3.0% to $1.2bn as production declined 3.0%.
