Mining and exploration group Fresnillo has unveiled several board changes which will take effect at the annual general meeting on May 16th.Javier Fernandez and Fernando Solana have advised the board on their intentions to step down at the AGM. Solana and Fernandez have served the board for five and six years.The board of the remuneration committee has agreed that Barbara Laguera and Jamie Serra Puche be presented as potential candidates to act as independent non-executive directors at the AGM, with their appointments to take effect from the conclusion of the meeting.Laguera is currently the president of the acquisitions committee of FEMSA Proyectos Culturales.She is also a director of the following publicly listed companies: Coca-Cola FEMSA and Fomento Económico Mexicano (FEMSA).Serra has worked in the Mexican government where he served as Undersecretary of Finance and Secretary of Trade and Industry and Secretary of Finance.It is planned that Laguera be appointed to the nominations committee, in place of Fernandez and that Serra be selected as a member of the audit committee in place of Solana, once their appointments to the board take effect.It is also proposed that Maria Asunción Aramburuzabala be appointed as a member of the health, safety, environment and community relations committee.Chairman, Alberto Baillères, said: "I should like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Solana and Mr Fernández for their significant contribution to the board and to the committees on which they have served in recent years.
