(Sharecast News) - The Eurozone construction sector rebounded in August, official data showed on Tuesday, fuelled in part by a sharp spike in activity in Germany, the bloc's largest economy.

According to first estimates from Eurostat, the European Union's statistical office, construction output rose 1.4% year-on-year, comfortably reversing July's upwardly-revised 1.7% decline and the strongest growth since October 2025. Month-on-month, and output rose 1.8%, a notable improvement on July's 0.2% uptick.

In the wider bloc, production in construction was up 2%, or by 2.6% year-on-year.

Driving growth in the Eurozone was specialised construction activities, which sparked 2.5% and helped offset a 0.4% dip in buildings construction and a 2.1% fall in civil engineering.

Among individual member countries, Germany posted a 9.3% surge in production in construction, up from the 1.1% improvement seen in July. In Spain and France, output was up 0.7%, but it fell 2.9% in Italy.
