(Sharecast News) - Elementis has agreed to sell a site in Jersey City for $17m (£13m) that was left after the specialist chemicals company disposed of its US colourants business in 2017. The FTSE 250 group said it would sell the site in the state of New Jersey to 400 Claremont Urban Renewal and use the proceeds to reduce debt and for general corporate purposes.Elementis sold the US colourants business to Chromaflo Technologies in March 2017 for an undisclosed cash sum and closed the factory in Jersey City where the products were made. The sale of the site does not need regulatory approval and the transaction closed when it was signed on 21 August.Chief executive Paul Waterman said: "We are pleased to confirm that the closure and sale of the Jersey City site proceeded as planned. This concludes the disposal of our non-core US colourants business, consistent with the strategy to transform our supply chain and ensure Elementis is focused on our key growth opportunities."The company followed up the colourants disposal by selling its Netherlands surfactants business to Kolb Distribution in December for €39m (£35m) in cash.
