(Sharecast News) - DHL said on Tuesday that its supply chain unit has agreed to buy Colombian logistics and transport operator Open Market.
No financial details were disclosed, but DHL said the acquisition further expands its regional footprint and supports the execution of the group's Strategy 2030, reinforcing the ambition of growing in life sciences and healthcare logistics sectors by 2030.
Open Market has a network of 21 warehouses with 120,000 m² of total area and 13 crossdocking platforms. The business has a team of around 4,100 employees.
DHL said the deal also strengthens its logistics solutions portfolio by adding capabilities in transportation, packaging, and temperature-controlled operations.
Hendrik Venter, chief executive of DHL Supply Chain, said: "This step reflects our strategic focus on strengthening our capabilities in regions and sectors that show sustained, long-term growth. Colombia's strong economic momentum and rising demand for integrated logistics and transport services make it a key growth market for DHL Group.
"By expanding our presence here and integrating Open Market's expertise - particularly in managing complex supply chains for pharmaceuticals, medical products and personal care - we further advance our global DHL Health Logistics capabilities and reinforce our commitment to supporting customers in highly regulated and operationally demanding sectors."
