(Sharecast News) - Crimson Tide announced further expansion into the US market on Wednesday by partnering with a new client responsible for catering services at UNC Health, a division of the University of North Carolina (UNC).

The AIM-traded firm said the new client planned to employ the mpro5 mobile application and its reporting and dashboard features to facilitate the punctual delivery of meals to students at an optimum temperature.

Initially, the service would be rolled out at one of UNC Health's medical campuses.

Beyond ensuring timely meal deliveries, mpro5 would also monitor and automate patients' dietary needs.

It would incorporate features such as carb-counting, essential in adjusting medicinal dosages for patients.

Throughout the three-year inaugural contract, the mpro5 solution was expected to support the delivery of more than 240,000 warm, health-conscious, and diet-specific meals.

The starting value of the agreement stood at about $72,000, but projections indicated potential growth after the initial implementation phase.

"This contract win extends our reach into the US, further emphasises our strength in the contract catering sector, and, most importantly, helps our client deliver safe and healthy meals to its most in-need patients," said chairman Barrie Whipp.

"We look forward to exploring how we can further help US education providers meet the compliance, auditing and verification challenges of catering in a student environment."

At 1301 BST, shares in Crimson Tide were down 2.34% at 2.3p.
