Costain, the engineering solutions provider, has been awarded a contract by Crossrail to construct Paddington New Yard, between Crossrail's tunnels and the Great Western railway. This is the eleventh Crossrail contract with which Costain has been involved and is worth approximately £30m to the group. The project includes the construction of a bus parking deck to allow space for Crossrail trains to diverge from the Great Western line, as well as preparatory work for the installation of new rail track and systems for new sidings, the group explained. Andrew Wyllie, Chief Executive of Costain, said: "The Crossrail scheme is meeting a vital national requirement, creating a key part of the UK's transport infrastructure. "Costain was selected because of our ability to deliver value as a long-standing partner, which we believe is firmly in keeping with 'Engineering Tomorrow': our commitment to generating and delivering innovative, value-driven solutions to meet major national needs."Work will commence immediately and is expected to complete in December 2015.NR
