Carillion selected as preferred bidder for NHS contract

Carillion has been selected as preferred bidder for a 200m support services contract with Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) NHS Trust. If the company wins the contract, it will provide services including fabric maintenance, mechanical and electrical engineering, catering, cleaning, security, logistics, patient movements, waste management and the operation of the switchboard and helpdesk functions. The five-year contract includes an option to extend by three years, subject to a satisfactory performance. A decision will be made by April 7th after which Carillion is anticipated to begin services at NUH in June. Carillion Chief Executive, Richard Howson, said: "I am delighted that Carillion has been selected as the preferred bidder to become a strategic partner for one of the country's largest NHS Trusts. We look forward to working with the Nottingham University Hospitals Trust and to using our extensive skills and experience in the health sector to support the Trust in delivering first-class patient services."RD
