Support services group Babcock has picked up a £170m contract to maintain 12 British Army bases in Germany, the first time a private contractor has been chosen to run British Forces facilities in the country. The five-year contract will see Babcock deliver planned and reactive building maintenance, grounds maintenance and minor new works at 12 stations, predominantly in the German states of Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia."I am delighted we have been awarded this major facilities management contract, the first that Defence Estates has outsourced in Germany. Building on our track record of high quality delivery of two Regional Prime contracts for Defence Estates in the UK, we have worked closely with them to develop the cost-efficient and flexible solution they require," Peter Rogers, Babcock chief executive commented.
