The FTSE 100 pharmaceuticals firm, AstraZeneca, has won Europe-wide approval for its diabetes drug Komboglyze.The treatment, which was developed in conjunction with US peer Bristol-Myers Squibb, helps glycaemic control in adult patients with type 2 diabetes.The approval comes following a study involving 4,326 patients.Type 2 diabetes accounts for approximately 90 to 95% of all cases of diagnosed diabetes in adults. In Europe alone there are around 50 million people suffering with the condition.The share price fell marginally by 0.04% to 2,820p by 08:20.BS
