(Sharecast News) - Chip equipment giant ASML has denied allegations that it has shipped an extreme ultraviolet lithography (EUV) machine to China amid concerns in Washington that the Dutch firm violated US export restrictions.

According to Bloomberg News, US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick expressed concerns about possible non-compliance with export controls.

The report said Lutnick's concerns were raised in a series of recent meetings with ASML executives, citing people familiar with the discussions.

ASML is not able to export its EUV machines to China as a result of restrictions enforced during the first Trump administration, though senior government officials believe the company is not acting in good faith despite not providing evidence to back up their claims, Bloomberg reported.

"ASML regularly engages in transparent and open dialogue with government leaders globally," ASML said in a statement.

"We recognise the national security considerations behind export control regulations in the US and the Netherlands, and we're fully committed to complying with all applicable regulations."

An ASML spokesperson added that the company has previously "refuted several unfounded rumours regarding non-compliance with export controls concerning China which were inaccurate and damaging to our reputation."

ASML shares dropped after the claims first surfaced, but had erased earlier losses to trade broadly flat at €1,675.40 before the close in Amsterdam/
