Anglo American CEO takes chair at Anglo Platinum

Anglo Platinum has appointed Cynthia Carroll, the chief executive of its majority shareholder Anglo American, as its new chairman.Carroll will succeed Fred Phaswana, who steps down from the role at the end of August. The outgoing chairman said that Carroll's appointment "deeply affirms Anglo American's commitment, not only to Anglo Platinum, but to South Africa as a whole."Valli Moosa has been appointed as Deputy Chairman and Lead Independent Non-executive Director and Chairman of the Governance Committee. Valli Moosa replaces Tom Wixley who has served in that role for nine years and who will continue in his role as an Independent Non-executive Director and Chairman of the Remuneration Committee.
