(Sharecast News) - Primark has appointed Eoin Tonge as its CEO on permanent boss with immediate effect and created a chief commercial officer role for the clothing chain as it mulls a possible spinoff.

Tonge has held the post on an interim basis for almost a year. He was previously chief finance officer and chief strategy officer at Marks & Spencer.

The company, owned by conglomerate Associated British Foods, added that it had appointed Filip Ekvall as CCO from September. He is currently CEO international outdoor retailer BRAV and was previously a global director of sales at fashion chain H&M.

AB Foods is reviewing whether to separate Primark from its food divisions to enhance shareholder value.
