(Sharecast News) - Freight management service provider Xpediator updated the market on the make-up of its board on Wednesday, with the appointment of Gillian Wilmot as independent non-executive interim chairman.

The AIM-traded firm described Wilmot as an "experienced chairman and non-executive director", following an executive career as a marketing director then chief executive officer.

It said she would bring a "wealth of experience" across business-to-business, digital technology and digital transformation in traditional industries.

Wilmot's skill set would bring "particular strength" in value creation, operational insight and corporate governance.

Rob Riddleston was stepping down as non-executive interim chairman, the board confirmed, but would remain as an independent non-executive director to provide continuity.

"I am looking forward to working with the board and the whole team at Xpediator to restore value for shareholders," Gillian Wilmot said.

"There is significant change already underway with a highly experienced CEO and chief financial officer.

"All aspects of the business will be reviewed, a plan agreed and then executed; the results of the review will be shared with shareholders in due course."

Xpediator also announced the appointment of Michael 'Mike' Stone as interim chief executive officer for an initial six-month term, capable of further extension by agreement.

It said Wim Pauwels had stepped down from the board, having joined in November 2019 as a non-executive director and serving as interim CEO since November last year.

The board described Stone as a "highly-experienced executive" within the international logistics industry, with more than 35 years of experience working with logistics companies both domestically and internationally.

Currently serving as non-executive director of Belgium's publicly-listed postal operator Bpost he had also served as managing director for Quadient's UK operations, chief operating officer of DX Group, and prior to that, in senior European and global management positions with DHL, including managing director of operations for DHL Express Europe.

"Joining Xpediator at this time is an exciting opportunity and I very much look forward to contributing to the leadership of the company," Mike Stone commented.

At 1234 BST, shares in Xpediator were down 1.76% at 36.35p.
