Xaar's R&D Director builds stake following lower profit guidance

Ramon Borrell, the Research & Development (R&D) Director of FTSE 250 member Xaar, continued to build his stake in the inkjet printheads supplier with the purchase of 40,000 shares. The deal comes just days after the company lowered its guidance for full-year revenues and profit margin, saying the exceptional market for ceramic tile manufacturing had returned to more normal levels. It explained that sales volumes to the ceramic tile market had stabilised, in line with previous guidance, but that more aggressive pricing from competitors has led to average pricing falling, hitting margins.With R&D investment also increasing during the year, offset by beneficial capitalisation of its forthcoming Thin Film development costs, Xaar said adjusted operating profit margin would be 28%-29% versus the 30% reported last year.Borrell purchased the shares at 500.06p each for £200,024.
