BANGALORE (Dow Jones)--Wockhardt Ltd. (532300.BY) Friday said it has received final approval from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration to sell a generic version of AstraZeneca PLC's (AZN) Toprol extended-release tablets for the treatment of heart problems. Wockhardt will immediately launch the product, metoprolol succinate, in 25 milligram, 50 mg, 100 mg and 200 mg strengths, the Indian generic-drug maker said. Toprol is used for 24-hour control of hypertension, treatment of angina, and to improve chances of survival after a heart attack. Wockhardt said it will be only the second generic version of the product in the U.S. market, apart from the brand and its authorized generic. -By Rumman Ahmed, Dow Jones Newswires; 91-9845104173; [email protected] (END) Dow Jones Newswires July 23, 2010 06:11 ET (10:11 GMT)
