Week Ahead: HMV, Greene King, ASOS

No FTSE 100 companies are scheduled to declare results next week which leaves the field clear for second liners such as ASOS, HMV and Greene King.Online fashion retailer ASOS is a shining example of how shopping habits are changing. While old school bricks and mortar retailers such as Marks & Spencer have had to occasionally resort to publicity stunts to lure customers to their stores, ASOS's online offering is growing in popularity to the extent that it now rivals Next's web site in terms of customer visits."As widely reported, younger fashion is proving more resilient, internet shopping continues to gain in popularity and our international sales are being bolstered by the weak pound," said chief executive officer Nick Robertson art the time of the company's trading update in April.HMV has benefited from the demise of rivals Woolworths and Zavvi, and said at the end of April that its full year results would be at the upper end of market expectations. While sales of music, films, software and associated hardware are buoyant, the company's book selling subsidiary, Waterstone's, remains a concern.Acquisitive brewing and pub group Greene King will have been enjoying the sparkling summer weather Britain has been enjoying in June.
