Wednesday preview: Taylor Wimpey trading update ahead

Taylor Wimpey is expected to report strong underlying market conditions when it releases its full-year trading statement on Wednesday, according to Numis.The housebuilder has recently enjoyed the benefits of a pick-up in prices in the sector, supported by government schemes. Numis said the firm's trading update tomorrow is likely to show continued strength, particularly in the forward order book. Taylor Wimpey's guidance for the year is anticipated to be ahead in terms of volumes, prices and margins but Numis suspects there will "not be much change in full year expectations given this was essentially secured several months ago"."Overall, Taylor Wimpey has a strong landbank which does give it optionality of pursuing growth or reducing land investment which should provide a platform for improved cash generation and returns for shareholders."In keeping with the other housebuilders, one of the most important drivers of share price in 2014 is how the housebuilders like for like sales will perform upon the anniversary of the Help top Buy scheme in April 2014."Also out with trading updates tomorrow will be Genel Energy and Burberry. On the macro-economic agenda will be the US Federal Reserve's Beige book, after the close of trading in London.
