The Communication & Integrated Systems business of Ultra Electronics has been awarded a contract extension for the in-service support of the UK Ministry of Defence's Litening Pods. The contract, which was originally agreed in 2006, is as a whole now worth a total of £80.4m. Rakesh Sharma, Chief Executive of Ultra said: "This contract award is testament to Ultra's commitment to focusing on customer need and delivering innovative solutions. "Our dedicated support resource underpins the success of the Litening Pod's mission availability and demonstrates Ultra's commitment to delivering outstanding customer support."The Litening Pod is used by Royal Air Force's Eurofighter Typhoon and Tornado fleets. The support centre provides systems engineering support to the fleet as well as conducting test and repair of all Litening components. The contract extension will enable Ultra to improve availability to the front line command, it said. Shares had moved 0.33% higher to 1,843p by 09:02. NR
