Ultra Electronics has been awarded a 14m pound contract extension with the UK's Ministry of Defence (MoD) for its End Cryptographic Unit Replacement Programme (ECURP).The group's Communication and Integrated Systems business is providing MoD with high grade cryptographic capability.Cryptographic units are a protocol that performs a security-related function such as website protection. The extension for the integration and installation phase of the programme will see Ultra integrating cryptographic units into platforms, systems and sites across the MoD's inventory and estate. Rakesh Sharma, Chief Executive of Ultra, said: "The award of the system integration contract to Ultra ensures that the UK MoD will realise the early benefits of a modern high grade cryptographic estate. "It recognises Ultra's extensive capability in system integration and management of complex equipment roll-out programmes. This is a further example of Ultra delivering its strategies for growth by winning and expanding its position on a long-term programme."RD
