Ultra Electronics has won a £9.9m contract for the provision of its sea sentor surface ship torpedo defence system to be used for New Zealand's ANZAX frigate systems upgrade (FSU) programme. Ultra's Sonar Systems business will deliver two sea sentor systems under the contract, which was signed on July 11th at the New Zealand MoD Defence House in Wellington.The system detects incoming torpedoes fired from a hostile submarine. Rakesh Sharma, the Chief Executive of Ultra, said: "I am pleased Ultra has been awarded this contract to work in partnership with the New Zealand MoD, showing continued growth in the maritime sector. Ultra continues to expand its sonar capabilities to meet its customer needs and this has been recognised by the contract award."RD
