UK Fraud Office Wants BAE Deal Settled Before End-summer - FT

LONDON (Dow Jones)--The director of the U.K.'s Serious Fraud Office has said he is determined to press ahead with a deal to fine BAE Systems PLC (BA.LN), the Financial Times reports Tuesday. The SFO hopes to bring the matter to court before the summer break after months of legal argument including a court challenge to the 'plea bargain' entered into between the SFO and BAE. "Clearly it's complex and the documentation will be extensive," Alderman tells the FT. "We all want to get this before the court as soon as we can." Under the agreement, BAE will admit to accounting irregularities in relation to the sale of a radar system to Tanzania. The company denies bribery and won't admit it as part of the prosecution.
