Tuesday preview: Vodafone interims, UK and German inflation

Vodafone will on Tuesday announce the details of its so-called Project Spring investment programme in next generation mobile. The wireless operator is increasing its spending in speeding up the pace of its network in countries around the world. The company will provide further information on its plans to turnaround a decline in its traditional mobile business. The announcement will coincide with Vodafone's half-year results which are forecast to show revenues down as much as 4.5% due to difficulties in many of its developed mobile markets, according to consensus.Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation are expected to fall more than 4% to £6.4bn, weighed down by tough competition in Italy, Spain and the UK.On the macro-economic agenda, all eyes will turn to German and UK inflation.Germany's consumer price index (CPI) is expected to remain unchanged at 1.2% in October.UK inflation is predicted to fall to 2.5% in October from 2.7% a month earlier. It will come a day ahead of the Bank of England's quarterly inflation report which will be watched closely to see if the central bank upgrades its economic forecasts.
