(Sharecast News) - Investors' focus on Tuesday will be on a raft of data covering the US housing sector.

Some economists - including Nobel prize winning Robert Schiller - believe that it has fallen into the grip of a 'Wild West' mentality.

Nevertheless, not all economists agree.

On home shores, the spotlight will be on public sector net borrowing figures covering the month of April.

Across the Channel meanwhile, all eyes will be on the release of the IFO institute's closely-followed German business confidence index for May at 0900 BST.

For later in the day, at 1500 BST, European Central Bank chief economist, Philip Lane, is due to speak at the Peterson Institute for International Economics's Strategy Review.

Further afield, rate-setters in Indonesia are due to meet to decide on monetary policy.

Worth noting, their deliberations will take place against the backdrop of an uneven recovery across the region given recent Covid-19 flare-ups in various countries.

Also in Asia Pacific, the World Economic Forum will be getting under way in Singapore.

For Aveva's full-year results, UBS's Michael Briest expects the software developer's topline to be roughly in line with consensus, at around £1,196m on a proforma combined basis.

For the company's earnings before interest and taxes meanwhile, Briest had penciled-in £208m on a stand-alone basis.

Pro-forma EBIT meanwhile was pegged at £328m.

On the outlook, he believed Aveva would guide towards a "high single-digit" proforma growth in sales for the year ahead.

To take note of, it will also be the first public appearance for the group's new chief executive officer, Peter Herweck.

Long-term growth and margin targets may be forthcoming too, but may also be left for the 1 July Capital Markets Day, Briest said.

For the 2022 financial year, consensus was at £1,278m for EBIT of £378m.
