Tuesday preview: EasyJet, Babcock, InterContinental Hotels

The market will watch out for the impact last month's volcanic ash cloud has had on EasyJet's half year figures. The no-frills airline's first half results have already been well flagged by the company to come in at the top end of the £80m-£95m loss range. Nomura expects the loss to amount to £81m. The Japanese broker also forecasts a 4.8% rise in total revenue per seat on a reported basis.Commerzbank also anticipates interim losses to come in at £81m. The German broker says EasyJet's targeted growth strategy, focusing on key markets and customer groups, may mean yield development is flat, but it still likes the underlying story. Numis expects to see strong earnings growth when defence services group Babcock International publishes full-year figures tomorrow. Consensus forecasts are for adjusted pre-tax profits of £143.3m compared with £120.9m a year ago.
