ZURICH (DOW JONES)--The Gulf of Mexico oil spill won't have any direct impact on Russia's third-largest oil producer TNK-BP (TNBP.RS), the NZZ newspaper reports Friday, citing comments from businessman Viktor Vekselberg. Vekselberg, who holds a 12.5% stake in the joint venture between BP PLC (BP) and a group of Russian businessmen, said the oil spill will herald a new chapter in the history of the oil industry, the NZZ reports. Vekselberg said he couldn't comment on whether BP plans to sell its 50% holding in TNK-BP to help finance the costs of the accident, but that the joint venture was a "diamond" in the U.K. company's portfolio, it said. TNK-BP hopes to retain part of its 63% investment in the huge Siberian Kovytka gas field project, which is subject to a recent bankruptcy filing, NZZ reports.
