Shares in telecoms services provider KCOM Group continue to rise following last Friday's contract win and trading statement. Hull-based KCOM has signed a five year contract with Phones4U to consolidate all the mobile phone retailer's telecoms services into a single source.Profit before tax and exceptional items increased 71% to £16.2m in the six months to September 2009 despite revenues falling to £210.8m from £243.6m last year. The interim dividend is unchanged at 0.5 pence a share. In contrast, high-tech instruments supplier Renishaw is still on the slide following the announcement of a sharp fall in interim profits last week. The interim dividend was nearly halved from 7.76p a share to 4p a share.Operating profit slumped to £6.9m (£11.9m), but Renishaw said this represented a marked recovery from the operating loss of £5.9m in the second six months of the previous financial year.
