TechMARK movers: BT Vision ad ban

23rd Dec 2009 14:56

A slump in BT shares appears to be down to its BT Vision offshoot. An advert for its broadband TV service has been banned because it appeared to claim that it showed certain movies before its rival Sky. The Advertising Standards Authority received two complaints from members of the public and one from BSkyB. The ASA said that the advert did not make a clear distinction between Sky Movies and Sky Box Office. The latter shows films first. BT is also involved with the Project Canvas joint venture which will allow people to see old TV programmes and internet content on their TVs. BSkyB and Virgin are both concerned at the BBC's involvement - there are worries that this could lead to competition concerns. Ark Therapeutics is continuing its recovery following last Friday's decision by European regulator EMEA to reject brain cancer treatment Cerepro because it did not appear to be effective. Ark says that it intends to appeal against the decision. The share price is 50% above the KBC Peel Hunt price target of 10p a share. However, it is still 50% lower than at the start of trading on Friday.
