Tate & Lyle non-exec ups stake by 5,000 shares

Anne Minto, a non-executive director of Tate & Lyle purchased 5,000 ordinary shares in the sweeteners and food products group on Monday.Minto, who has held senior management roles at several FTSE 100 firms including Centrica, Shell and Smiths Group, currently works as a member of the audit, nominations and remuneration committees at Tate & Lyle.She bought the stack of shares at a price of 756.5p each for a total of £37,825. However, it looks like Minto chose an expensive time to buy, with shares up around 16% in the last three months. The stock has risen 12% over the past year.The move comes just a month after the company released its first-half results, in which it reported a 7% increase in constant-currency sales in the six months to September to £1,631m.First-half reported profit before tax slumped 28% to £172m as a result of softer market conditions in Europe and an increase in fixed costs.
