TalkTalk security still has gaping holes, says security expert

(ShareCast News) - TalkTalk customers are apparently still at serious risk of cyber-attacks, more than a month after the company's computer system was hacked.According to security researchers Codified Security, there continue to be a number of large holes in the telecom group's website and email services that mean personal details such as passwords and email addresses could be accessed.Codified's chief technology officer Martin Alderson told the Telegraph: "I would be surprised if any start-up, let alone a FTSE 250 company, would do this."If you were a security professional you'd find [these flaws] in a few seconds."TalkTalk responded, saying: "We cannot go into detail on specific aspects of our website and email platforms for obvious security reasons, however the security of our systems is a top priority and we constantly run vulnerability checks using tools developed by industry-leading experts."In October, thousands of TalkTalk customers had their credit card and bank account numbers stolen.It anticipates that the attack will cost it as much as £35m.
